Severance Hospital was established in 1885 as Korea’s first modern medical institution. Severance was ranked the first for six consecutive years from 2011 to 2016 in the National Customer Satisfaction Index, proving that it is a leader in patient safety and customer satisfaction. In 2016, they also received a presidential award for attracting international patients by improving the overall infrastructure for international patients. With state-of-the-art medical technology, Severance became the first hospital in Korea to ever receive JCI accreditation and succeeded in being reaccredited three consecutive times.

Since Severance introduced the da Vinci robotic surgical system in 2005, they have performed over 15,000 robot surgeries as of July, 2016.
