Johns Hopkins Hospital, founded in 1889 and headquartered in Baltimore, is the first academic hospital of Johns Hopkins Medicine(JHM), an $8 billion integrated global health enterprise and one of the leading health care systems in the United States.

Health Insurance

Insurance pre-authorization for care is required seven to 10 business days before the scheduled appointment. If Johns Hopkins cannot obtain preauthorization, or if Johns Hopkins is not contracted with your insurance company, Johns Hopkins will ask you to make a deposit for your treatment.


◎ Self Pay
Once your appointment has been confirmed, your financial coordinator will prepare a packet outlining your appointment details and the estimated cost of your scheduled services. Johns Hopkins must receive a deposit of 100 percent of the estimated cost before they can begin any services. Actual charges may vary from the original estimate―Johns Hopkins will monitor your account closely and keep you informed.
To help Johns Hopkins tailor your medical visit to your individual needs, Johns Hopkins will ask you to complete an authorization form before you arrive.
Payment can be made in the form of major credit cards, certified checks, cash and wire transfers.
