Professor Lee is an exceptional thyroid cancer expert who first developed BABA (Bilateral Axillo-Breast Approach) robotic surgery which does not leave scars on the neck and voice change after surgery, but still has the same effect with incision surgery in 2008, Korea. Every year, he performs over 600 cases of thyroid cancer surgery including 150 robotic surgeries.
Beside, Professor Lee and his team published “a textbook of Robotic Thyroid Cancer Surgery (Color Atlas of Thyroid Surgery: Open, Endoscopic and Robotic Procedures)” which gained a world’s recognition, through a universal publisher, Springer. Currently, his research interests lies on molecular genetics of thyroid cancer and its role in tumorigenesis, diagnosis and prognosis. As diagnosing a thyroid cancer can often only be confirmed by surgery, Dr Lee is conducting researches on distinguishing a hard-to-detect cancer via molecular genetics examination for the better and precise diagnosis without having surgery.
He graduated from Seoul National University, one of the best universities in Korea.
* Seoul National University, founded in 1889, was ranked as the top Korean university of clinical medicine in U.S. News, 2018.
